In Memory of Kathy Rice
1956 - 2008
Kathy was born and raised in Greenville, SC. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2001 and fought the disease for seven years. During those years, she was a community leader in the fight against breast cancer. She co-chaired the Uplift program which provides education and support to those who are currently battling breast cancer and also empowers survivors to continue their fight. She also worked with the SC Cancer Alliance and the Department of Defense Breast Cancer research program.
She is survived by her husband and three children. Our prayer is that we will keep her service alive by doing what she did best - helping others.
In Memory of Doris Vinskus
1934 - 2020
Born and raised in Greenville, SC, Doris was married for 65 years. She had three children, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. To say the least, Doris was a fighter. She was a two-time breast cancer survivor. She actively supported The Rice Vinskus Scholarship and breast cancer research. She was an inspiration to her family and friends.
These two women are incredible examples of strength, hope, and courage. With the Rice Vinskus Scholarship, we hope to honor them and carry on the tradition of helping those who have been affected by this disease.
